For many corporations and businesses, the bottom line is not only monetary profit, but also a sense of responsibility to their communities. Many corporations make generous monetary contributions to charitable organizations as a way of being a good neighbor in their community. However, Coldwell Banker NRT Development encourages employees and clients to use service as an avenue for giving back even more. Several such services involve the following:
Judy Price, Business Development Manager, Coldwell Banker NRT Development Advisors, is an avid volunteer with Kate’s Club. Just last weekend she volunteered at Camp Good Mourning at Camp Twin Lakes. Camp Good Mourning is an annual two day grief camp for children ages five through 18 who have experienced the loss of a parent or a sibling. Held at Camp Twin Lakes in Rutledge, GA, the campers are able to talk to kids in their own age group who have gone through a similar experience so they realize they are not alone in their grief. The camp’s activities included games, journaling, music therapy, arts and crafts, songwriting and a luau.
Judy participated as a buddy, which is an adult volunteer who directly interacts with the kids, acting as both a friend and mentor. For camp, she does it all, from getting the campers up in the morning, encouraging them through the daily activities and making sure they have fun at the Saturday dance.
On the client side, Studioplex, the live/work community in Atlanta’s historic Old Fourth Ward will be the location for the second ‘Birdhouse Social’ hosted by the Atlanta chapter of Architecture for Humanity. The event will take place on Saturday, August 14 form 4-8 PM. The ‘Birdhouse Social” will feature a silent auction of custom birdhouses and chicken coops designed by some of Atlanta’s most creative residents. All proceeds will benefit the Greater Vine City Opportunities Program and English Avenue Campus renovation.
The gift of service is a win-win opportunity for everyone involved.
